As part of a three-year FASD prevention, awareness and education project in Atlantic Canada entitled Toward Prevention, fasdNL is pleased to invite you to our FASD 101 and the Justice System training that will take place on: 26 – 27* October 2021, held virtually over Zoom 9:00am – 12:00pm (AST) | 9:30am – 12:30pm (NST) *Facilitator training only FASD 101 and the Justice System is a free half-day training designed for justice professionals and community organizations who may work adjacent to or directly with justice-involved individuals impacted by fetal alcohol spectrum disorder (FASD). This training aims to increase understanding of FASD and its intersections with the justice system as well as deliver promising interventions for justice-involved individuals with FASD. This interactive evidence-based training will address current FASD diagnostic information, stigma and shame associated with the disorder, as well as various interventions and strategies for a strength-based and person-centered approach. Interested in becoming a facilitator of this training? fasdNL is happy to announce that we will be offering a facilitator training session for individuals who wish to deliver our FASD 101 and the Justice System training to colleagues. Become a trained facilitator of FASD 101 and the Justice System on October 27th, 9:00 am - 12:00 pm (Atlantic): Email [email protected] to attend the facilitator's three-hour training. *Please note: To become a facilitator, you must first attend the training on October 26th. hanks for sharing the article, and more importantly, your personal experience of mindfully using our emotions as data about our inner state and knowing when it’s better to de-escalate by taking a time out are great tools. By focusing on current diagnostic information, stigma reduction, and person-centered interventions, the training aims to equip participants with the knowledge and skills necessary to effectively support individuals impacted by FASD within legal contexts.
