fasdNL offers supports and training for individuals, families, and professionals impacted by FASD across Newfoundland and Labrador.
FASD 101 Training *Offered virtually due to COVID-19 measures.
fasdNL offers half day and customized FASD training for professionals, families, community organizations and the general public. Our training addresses up to date diagnostic information about FASD, addresses stigma and shame associated with the disorder, as well as interventions and strategies for a strength based approach. IEP/ISSP Meeting Support *Offered virtually due to COVID-19 measures.
fasdNL is now offering IEP/ISSP meeting support for families across Newfoundland and Labrador who have a child diagnosed with FASD.

Virtual Support Group for Parents & Caregivers
fasdNL hosts a monthly virtual meeting for parents and caregivers of individuals with FASD across Newfoundland and Labrador. Meetings may relate to a specific topic (e.g., advocating and supporting your child at school) or be a general question and answer format. This group was created to provide accessible support for parents and caregivers in both rural and urban areas.
Eastern Support Group for Parents & Caregivers *Offered virtually due to COVID-19 measures.
A monthly support group facilitated with the collaboration of Key Assets and Daybreak Parent Child Centre held in St. John's. Open to parents and caregivers of an individual with confirmed or suspected FASD. Self-refer by emailing fetalalcoholnl@gmail.com
Private Chat Group for Parents & Caregivers
fasdNL moderates a private online chat group for parents and caregivers of individuals with FASD. This space is intended to be a safe space for members to ask questions or advice, share frustrations and daily living strategies. To self-refer email fetalalcoholnl@gmail.com
FASD Day Events
fasdNL hosts five annual regional events to mark International FASD Day (September 9). Events take place each September one the island in St. John's, Marystown, Grand Falls-Windsor, Stephenville. Additional FASD day events happen in Labrador in Happy Valley - Goose Bay, Nunatsiavut communities, and Sheshatshiu and Natuashish,
Resource Libraries
fasdNL offers a number of resource libraries in various locations of the province. Resources may
include a range from children’s books for kids about FASD, books for parents and caregivers,
educational strategies, information for social workers and other frontline workers who work with youth
and young adults with FASD, and FASD screening toolkits for health professionals.

Networking & Seeking Opportunities to Increase Capacity
fasdNL continues to network with other community organizations, levels of government, individuals with lived experience and professionals to seek opportunities about increasing capacity of FASD responses across our province. fasdNL has hosted a national FASD conference in St. John's in 2013. In 2017, fasdNL brought together professionals from Eastern Health, Western Health and Labrador Grenfell Health along with Provincial Government and the Lakeland Centre for FASD (Alberta) to address the lack of diagnostic capacity in three of our province's health regions.
